Energy consumption is an important consideration for the modern Australian household. Limiting our environmental footprint and energy bills are topics we take very seriously here at Appliances Online. In light of this, a short guide to Energy Ratings for Appliances is presented below.

  • The energy rating system in Australia is structured to help you easily identify the most energy efficient products.
  • The state, territory and federal governments are jointly responsible for the management of the energy labelling program.
  • It is compulsory for manufacturers to put an Energy Rating label on every product.
  • Appliances are rated on a scale of one to six.
  • Most major categories of home appliances are required to carry an energy rating label, including refrigerators, freezers, dishwashers, washing machines, clothes dryers and air conditioners.

For more detailed information on the energy rating system go to the Australian government website.

Please ring our sales staff on 1300 000 500 if you have any further queries. Take time to consider your choice in regards to energy ratings. Our children will thank us.

As winter settles around us the search for night-time warmth is here.  At Appliances Online we stock a range of Rinnai gas heaters that will wrap your home in comfort through the coldest evenings.

The delight of gas heating appliances is their immediate, radiating heat.  Other features include:

  • Gas heating appliances ‘run clean’, operating with a minimum of mess and noise.
  • Gas is one of the most greenhouse friendly fuel sources available.
  • The consistency of heat generated is ideal for warming confined spaces evenly.

FIFA World Cup: Goals and Giveaways!

The FIFA World Cup is in full swing and, like many people around the world, the Appliance Online staff are battling sleep and results.  Whilst we Australians lick our wounds following the mauling we received at the hands of Germany, our proud Kiwi Marketing Manager James Fleet has found a new interest in the round ball game after the All Whites drew with Slovakia overnight.  ‘Interest’ in this sense refers to James now acknowledging that soccer exists, a massive step for a rugby mad man from across the Tasman!

Remember to go to the Appliances Online Facebook page to enter our World Cup competition.  The poor first-up result for the Socceroos should inspire an attacking style of play in their next two pool matches that furthers the cause of goals, goals and giveaways!

And remember, a world united by sleep deprivation is not ideal but a far sight better than one mired in mistrust and conflict.  May the play long continue!

Treat yourself to this Thai-style Pumpkin Soup that our Customer Service Manager, Sally, was given by a friend this week.  She gives it two thumbs up!

Ingredients:

2-3 tbs peanut oil (I used olive)
1 medium onion chopped
2 cloves of garlic chopped
1 tsp of grated ginger (out of the jar)
2 – 4 tsp red thai curry paste
1kg pumpkin peeled and cubed
3 cups of chicken stock
1 x 150g can coconut cream
lime juice
coriander leaves for garnishing

Method:

Heat oil, add onion, garlic, ginger and curry paste and stir fry until
fragrant. Add pumpkin and chicken stock, boil and simmer for about 25
minutes.  Blend soup.  Add coconut cream and lime juice reheat and serve.

With the addition of prawns or chicken, this soup becomes a main meal in itself.

Be well, be safe and have a cracker of a weekend!
